Job Summary: A leading global BPO and business services organization is looking for a Group Payroll Lead to manage and govern payroll operations across multiple countries. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining payroll accuracy, compliance, reporting, reconciliations, and vendor management while collaborating with global HR, Finance, and Operations teams.

Roles & Responsibilities -
Global Payroll Operations & Coordination:
- Own and manage the global payroll calendar across multiple countries and entities.
- Coordinate payroll activities across various geographies and payroll providers.
- Ensure payroll inputs are received, validated, approved, and submitted within agreed timelines.
- Act as the primary point of contact between HR, Finance, Operations, Workforce Management, and payroll providers.
- Monitor payroll processing timelines and ensure adherence to service levels.
- Lead payroll review meetings and drive issue resolution.
Payroll Input Management:
- Consolidate payroll inputs received from HR, Operations, and Workforce Management teams.
- Validate payroll data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with payroll cut-off timelines.
- Ensure all payroll changes are appropriately approved and documented.
- Maintain strong governance around payroll inputs and approvals.
- Payroll Governance & Controls:
- Maintain payroll controls, maker-checker processes, and segregation of duties.
- Ensure payroll processes comply with internal policies and audit requirements.
- Manage payroll approval workflows and sign-offs.
- Maintain payroll documentation, audit trails, and supporting records.
- Support internal and external payroll audits.
- Payroll Review, Reconciliation & Reporting:
- Review draft payroll reports received from payroll providers.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Investigate payroll discrepancies and exceptions.
- Validate payroll outputs against approved payroll inputs.
- Prepare payroll MIS, management reports, and payroll cost analysis.
- Support payroll accounting and month-end activities.
Payroll Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with external payroll providers.
- Monitor vendor performance against SLAs and agreed deliverables.
- Conduct periodic service reviews and improvement discussions.
- Coordinate issue resolution and process enhancement initiatives.
- Ensure payroll providers deliver accurate payroll calculations, statutory filings, and compliance reporting.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure payroll operations comply with local labour laws and payroll regulations.
- Monitor statutory compliance obligations managed by payroll providers.
- Identify payroll risks and implement mitigating controls.
- Maintain payroll SOPs, process documentation, and governance frameworks.
Process Improvement & Automation:
- Drive payroll process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Improve payroll data quality, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Support payroll system implementations, integrations, and workflow automation projects.
- Partner with HRIS, Finance, and Operations teams to streamline payroll processes.
- Support budgeting and forecasting by providing payroll-related insights and data.
- Participate in payroll transformation and standardization initiatives.
- Provide payroll analytics and reporting to management.
- Drive scalability and continuous improvement across global payroll operations.
Key Requirement
- Strong experience managing multi-country payroll operations.
- Hands-on experience working with outsourced payroll providers.
- Good understanding of payroll governance, controls, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Experience partnering with HR, Finance, Operations, Tax, and Legal teams.
- Strong payroll accounting and reporting knowledge.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential employee information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets proficiency.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and payroll automation tools.
- Exposure to UK, US, India, or South Africa payroll environments would be an advantage.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field; payroll certification (CIPP or equivalent) preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of payroll management experience, including handling payroll operations across multiple international countries.
Working Model: Work from Office (Monday - Friday)
